Castello Aragonese

Aperto tutti i giorni, compresi festivi, a visite guidate gratuite Castel Sant’ Angelo di Taranto, meglio conosciuto come castello Aragonese, rappresenta una delle esperienze da non perdere in terra di Puglia. Posizionato all’ imbocco del canale di accesso della città di Taranto, nel castello, ben conservato e patrimonio della Marina Militare, sono visibili le testimonianze di tutti i popoli che hanno caratterizzato la storia di questa terra: greci, bizantini, normanni, svevi e angioini. Ricostruito per volere dello stesso re di Napoli Ferdinando d’ Aragona, fra il 1487 e il 1492, per adeguarlo alle nuove tecniche militari di difesa, il castello è caratterizzato da torrioni cilindrici e camminamenti interni dove è emozionante ammirare le varie testimonianze storiche. Interessante sarà visitare anche la cappella rinascimentale interna dedicata a San Leonardo. Suggestiva la visita notturna.
